Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time takes place in ancient Persia, the cradle of some of this world's largest and most mysterious kingdoms. There was once a king who, together with his son, defied the powerful Maharaj?, kidnapping the Princess Farah and plundering the Maharaj?'s palace, making off with many of his precious treasures. Among these treasures was a strange hourglass and a mysterious dagger.
What the young Prince didn't know was that those two objects could make an immortal god of their possessor, who would even be able to control the time. The Prince, tricked by an evil vizier who wanted to steal his magic power, frees the sands of time, and in doing so he destroys his own kingdom, turning all of its inhabitants into terrible sand monsters. Only the Prince, the Princess Farah and the Vizier are saved from the destruction, and now the time has come for the Prince to repair the damage he has inflicted upon his kingdom, and to find his own redemption.

The most notable feature is the inclusion of elemental powers, taking it to a new dimension of gameplay, as interaction of these powers with each other is truly mystical. Prince has four major powers in the game: fire, ice, wind and earth. Each of them works differently during combat – for example the ability to ‘solidify’ water fountains and changed them into climbable columns. Apart from these major powers, Prince has also got minor powers, which can be traded to improve the Prince’s abilities from Razia. His minor powers include a shield and a small tornado.
The combat in the game is quite similar to the combat in The Sands of Time. Prince is able to fight more than one enemy in a single battle, up to 50 at once. A core part of the combat is ‘crowd control’ and eliminating enemies and combos as well. Remember! The game does not feature blocking and quick time events used only to kill the bosses in the game.
